HOLIDAY CHEER WITH A ROCK AND ROLL FLAVOR

Rock4Xmas Charity Concert Celebrates 15^th year with Four-Date Tour

     This December, the Rock4Xmas Foundation celebrates its 15^th year of helping Massachusetts families in need with its annual slate of holiday concerts, with a four-date tour that will reach rock and roll and metal fans in four different states.

     “Each year, Rock4Xmas just gets bigger and better,” said founder Wayne Morrison of Morrison Music and Production. “Nobody cares more about needy families during the holiday season than all my rock and roll friends.”

     Performers slated to appear include Corey Glover, lead singer of the band Living Colour; Joey Molland of the legendary Badfinger; Craig Goldy, guitarist for Dio; Stet Howland, drummer for WASP; Kelly Keeling, formerly of Trans-Siberian Orchestra; and Terry Ilous of the band XYZ. More performers are expected to be announced as the shows draw closer.

     “We’re so honored to have so many great friends back for another year with us,” Morrison said, noting that Glover’s 1989 hit “Cult of Personality” is enjoying a resurgence with the younger generation, now that it is being used as the entrance music for WWE star CM Punk. “That’s going to blow the roof off each night.”

     The tour kicks off on Thursday, December 1 at Café Funchal in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The next night they’ll be at the Sun Valley Resort in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, and on Saturday, December 3 the show moves to Long Island to the Nutty Irishman in Farmingdale, New York. The tour wraps up Sunday, December 4 at the Newport Blues Café in Newport, Rhode Island.

     Tickets for the New Bedford show will be specially priced at $12 in advance, $15 the day of the show. Tickets for all three other shows will be $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.Rock4Xmas.com (Coming Soon).

     “We wanted to do something special for the SouthCoast fans and all my hometown ‘peeps’ that have been supporting us these past 15 years,” Morrison said. “We’re hoping that by saving a few dollars on their tickets, maybe they’ll pick up a toy or two to donate.”

     At all four shows, the Rock4Xmas Foundation will accept donations of canned goods and toys to help needy families.

     “No donation is too big or too small,” Morrison said. “We need stocking stuffers just as much as we need big toys.”

     This year, Rock4Xmas will benefit The Standard-Times’ Neediest Families Fund, helping families across the SouthCoast of Massachusetts have a happier holiday season.
